The BBC has released the first-look pictures of Dope Girls, a new British drama from Doctor Who and His Dark Materials studio Bad Wolf.
Set in 1918, men return to the UK after the end of World War I, only to find that the women they left behind have become empowered in their absence — and they have no interest in things returning to how they were before.
Delving into the birth of modern nightlife, the show follows single mother Kate Galloway (Julianne Nicholson) as she opens up an underground nightclub in Soho, which soon becomes a hive of illicit and exciting hedonistic activity.

Representing the progression of women on the other side of the law, Dope Girls also follows Violet Davies (Eliza Scanlen), a new police officer who is sent undercover to investigate Kate’s club.
