MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Four major utilities and state building trade unions in Wisconsin announced Tuesday a commitment to employ local union workers in dozens of new developments across the state.
Wisconsin utilities announced efforts to transition to a clean energy future, including plans to build significant amounts of utility scale solar, battery storage and onshore wind, according to the release.
“The Carpenters Union is thrilled that our state’s utilities have made a commitment to using skilled Wisconsin workers to build our energy infrastructure,” said Andrew Disch of the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters Local Union. “This means energy projects will also be building the middle class and supporting local economies.”
