FTSE 100 Live: What’s Moving UK Markets, Pound (GBP/USD); Wages/Jobs Data

The mood across UK markets is quite positive heading into the US inflation report.

The FTSE 100 is still on track for its highest close since May, up about 1.2% on very decent volume for this time of day. The FTSE 250 is also rising, while gilts are gaining after that strong auction result earlier.

Only the pound is slightly lower, just below $1.28. But it remains very close to the highs of last week, when the currency touched the strongest level versus the dollar in more than seven months.
