Canada’s main stock index faced a downturn in late-morning trading, primarily due to losses in the base metal stocks. On the other hand, U.S. stock markets witnessed a mix of positive and negative movements.
The S&P/TSX composite index dropped 10.12 points, settling at 21,189.94. Meanwhile, in New York, the Dow Jones industrial average saw a slight increase of 12.25 points, reaching 38,345.70. However, the S&P 500 index experienced a decline of 2.09 points, totaling 4,925.84. Similarly, the Nasdaq composite observed a considerable drop of 56.98 points, closing at 15,571.06.
In terms of currency exchange, the Canadian dollar traded for 74.46 cents US, slightly higher than the 74.39 cents recorded on Monday.
