Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Orla Mining Ltd (TSX:), which rose 5.67% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.47 at the close. Gfl Environmental Inc (TSX:) added 4.15% or 1.82 points to end at 45.66 and Onex Corp (TSX:) was up 4.08% or 3.92 points to 99.92 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:), which lost 11.67% or 0.56 points to trade at 4.24 in late trade. Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TSX:) declined 9.06% or 0.52 points to end at 5.22 and Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:) shed 6.37% or 0.46 points to 6.76.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 527 to 419 and 119 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
